Living a Story
In Living a Story, Raízen Foundation’s students visit an institution (school, nursing home or hospital) and perform activities such as reading stories, drawings, face painting and making a puppet show presentation. The goal is stimulating the Foundation’s students to use the proper oral language level, besides encouraging the love for reading and providing moments of dream, imagination and relaxation.
The project is based in workshops for the educators of local public schools, who are trained to work with their students on the development of texts and illustrations about a chosen topic. Each participating school selects the best works, which in the end are included in a book about the project. The proposal was submitted to the Ministry of Culture through Rouanet Law (tax incentive law) and approved. In 2014, it benefited more than 14,000 students in the states of São Paulo (Dois Córregos, Assis, Piracicaba, Araçatuba, Jaú, Igaraçu do Tietê, Valparaíso, Maracaí, São Paulo and Barueri), Goiás (Jataí, Rio Verde and Montividiu) and Rio de Janeiro (Duque de Caxias). Three thousand copies of the book will be available for the public.
The goal of the Multidisciplinary Educational Exposition is presenting to the community the work developed with the students at Raízen Foundation’s units. Each year, a cultural topic is chosen, ranging from the Brazilian writer Machado de Assis to Picasso or to the 1960’s music. The project is completed by a theater play presented in the city’s theater and open to the public in general.
