The Music and Civil Responsibility project is offered in the city of Maracaí, São Paulo, and is focused on social integration and civil responsibility practices through music. It is an action with specific characteristics, involving a local tradition. When Cosan incorporated the industrial area of Nova América group in 2009, there already was a local band of young musicians with many achievements in their curriculum. Therefore, the Foundation decided to become responsible for supporting the orchestra, comprising 40 musicians. Other Foundation projects are developed in Maracaí, but the highlight is the orchestra of young musicians that has already won state and national competitions and is a source of pride for the local population. There are 45 students in the music school.

Energy at Play Theater Project
Energy at Play started eight years ago at the public schools in the locations where Raízen’s production units are located. With an essentially educational characteristic, its goal is to invest in practices that can stimulate learning.

The major difference of Energy at Play is maintaining direct contact with the target audience at the schools to offer shows with topics related to the reality of each age group. For example, the play presented by the project for high school students in December 2012 focused on career choices and professional future. There are four major seasons.

The project is offered by Raízen’s Social Responsibility department in the city of Barra Bonita, São Paulo. It is open to company’s employees and their children, as well as to students of local schools who excel during the school year and are recommended by their teachers. Individuals from the local community can also participate, after a selection process carried out by professionals in the area. Between February and December, a group of 60 students attends the program, which focuses on personal and artistic development, which are critical components for the education of actors and actresses.
